Trustee Oversight of fundraising
Awareness, training, audit services are available – so the question is, what do you need to for your Board? The options include:
Board Briefing and update
This overview of the changing landscape will give your Board enough information and awareness to make a serious start on considering how they will respond.
Training for a delegated board committee
Some charities have already moved to this model to ensure good Board visibility and involvement in fundraising. If you plan to follow suit, this training will ensure they understand what will be needed to deliver fundraising oversight and how best to apply it for your charity. I usually recommend that a member of your governance or internal audit team also attends.
Full board fundraising induction If you want your full Board to have a basic understanding of fundraising, then this will be a good option for you. The day will focus on fundraising through a trustee oversight lens.
Fundraising audit
I can offer limited or full fundraising audits against codes of practice and the regulatory framework.
Each of these services can be tailored and may be briefed separately or as part of a package. Throughout the programme, I am conscious that it is your trustees responsibility and that if they ask me to assist, they need clear visibility of the what we are doing and why.
Legacies
I love working with charities around legacies. These crowning gifts are a real mark of supporters’ engagement with what your charity is seeking to achieve. But so many in the sector fudge round legacy marketing. I’m currently working with one small charity to help their fundraising team reach a point where they can write their own legacy strategy. That way it will be led by the legacy marketer, but it will be owned by the whole team.
Such programmes are really ‘bespoke’, so do contact me to discuss your requirements.
